Fundraising for Palestine

In order to raise the awareness in humanitarian issues such as the attack on Gaza by Israeli troops, I have decided to do a fund raising with my students. The concept is very simple. The students must collect $500 for the relief fund. Only Jade Dollar (J$) is accepted for the donation. If the collection reach the target of $500, I will then exchange this money to real RM50 and donate it to Aman Palestine.

By doing this, the students themselves have the opportunity to contribute with their own money and willingly sacrifice a portion of their money. However, I did told them to think and manage their own money and left a portion for the shopping spree. It is funny to see them start thinking and wondering whether to donate or not. It's a reality. Even we have second thoughts before donating to a fund.

Alhamdulillah, the students manage to collect $340 for the first day, which means only $160 left before reaching the target. And to my surprise, three students had given $50 notes. Such a big heart.

Classroom Economy 2014

I had started this project in the beginning of the year 2014. At that time, I had not decided to post this stuff on my blog. But why not if I share stuffs that have done in the school. Maybe this can give you some ideas. =)

Actually I used to run this project during my practicum years in SIGS, Johor Bahru. First time doing it, lots of things for improvement. Furthermore, the duration given, about 3 months was inadequate as this project requires lengthy time in order for it to success.

It was then that I decided to give a try and see whether this project is suitable to be implemented within my school or not? So, here is the thing.

Maybe some of us are unfamiliar with the term Classroom Economy. My simple analogy would be, the Classroom Economy is some sort of "a small town within a classroom". In the classroom it self, we can have our own mayor, our own currency, our own legal system, our own shop, etc.

MH370 – a moment to remember

Seeing Malaysian news casters burst into tears did touched my heart. The short snippet was about a letter written by the wife of the missing cabin crew.

Imagine after waiting with hopes for such a long time, all of sudden you need to start your day tomorrow without the presence of love one. May Allah gives her strength in moving on with her life. Amin.

After the devastating news announced by the prime minister, it is sad to see how devastated the family members were. It is normal to see such a reaction from them. But to see someone cries in silence are more heartbreaking than seeing someone wailing and screaming when they are crying.

This is what we call the beauty of Islam. Only the strong believe in God’s existence and his Qada’ and Qadr will just put our sadness and grievances into nothingness. Still sad and still praying.
