Research Proposal Submission

Alhamdulillah, for today that Allah had given me a chance to successfully achieved the very first milestone in my Ph.D. journey, which is the submission of my research proposal. After struggling for more than two weeks, I managed to complete the proposal and straight away handed it over to the faculty.

Due to the fact that I am not from a research background, it did give me a really tough time even to start writing up the proposal as I have no idea what I am supposed to do. But in the end, I was able to comprehend bits and pieces of my own research.

I am glad to have decided to take pure science in the first place for my Ph.D. though it is tough and challenging. Now it is time to prepare for the Proposal Defend and keep my head up for the game. Hopefully, everything will be just fine. InsyaAllah.

Convocation

It is the final chapter of two years and a half story. A story full of laughter and tears. A story full of colours. A year ago, the end of this journey seemed very far and unreachable due to some obstacles and turbulence. And to be able to complete this Master journey, I raise my hand to Allah, the Almighty, for only Him that are able to turn everything into reality. Alhamdulillah.

I have come so far from where I began. And I am blessed to have great people around me who lighted up my spirit so I could keep on pushing myself forward all the way through the thick and thin.

My special thanks, I bid to Siti Fatimah for being the best buddy + lab partner, who helped me a lot throughout this endeavours.

Mak, Yon, Nyah, Yang, all family members, friends, colleagues, lecturers and classmates who were always by my side. Thank you from the deepest bottom of my heart.

I also would like to dedicate this achievement to my beloved mom, who patiently waited for me to be free from the devoted student life. Thank you, Mak, for keeping on waiting, still. I am sorry I could not be a proper son who should always be there for you.

And still, that missing little pieces of my life shall remain in my heart - Abah, how I wished you could be here by my side on this special day, after all the sacrifices that you have made during my study years. This scroll is for you.

Master's Life - The End

Alhamdulillah, I finally submitted my project paper to the faculty. After years of struggling, the suffering finally comes to an end. Frankly speaking, writing a thesis or project paper was quite daunting where there were times which I seldom felt down and demotivated like this thing would never end. I did not think that I would be able to finish it up. But luckily I did. =)

Thanks to my supervisor, Dr. Siti Shamsiah for her guidance throughout my project paper write up. I would say that I was lucky to have her as my SV though she was a bit strict. There are lots of new things that I had learnt from her. My tips to anyone who is struggling with the write-up, just listen to your SV. Unless you are very firm about one or two things in your research project.

My thanks also go to two great buddies that I luckily have to colour my life in UPSI, Fatimah and Azim. These two people give me the strength to endure this journey of postgrad life. I could not imagine how boring my life would be walking around the campus all alone. I literally can die of boredom.

And one more thing, this moment got even sweeter when UPSI's official instapage congratulated soon after I uploaded the photo. I was like starstruck. 😍  So, that was a wrap up for two and a half years of my master's study. I am looking forward to the graduation day in September next year. Need to start losing my weight and hit the gym now or else, my convo's pic would be horrible like my degree's photo. | MHM

Project Paper: Final Write-up

It's been a while since I last posted something on my blog. It was really hard for me to find time to blog since I was focusing on my project paper write-up.

Alhamdulillah! After some months of hard works, (not too hard though =P) my project paper is finally finished. I did not even realize that my project paper had developed into a thick textbook which I found it very astonishing yet gratifying.

Now it is time for me to take some rest and really enjoy my holiday before getting my head back on again, working for the second submission. Hopefully, it would turn out to be a minor correction. Aameen. | MHM

Emceeing!

This is my second time emceeing for the International Postgraduate Conference for Science and Mathematics in UPSI. The event was organized by the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UPSI. About a month earlier, Puan Reen had contacted me and offered me the job. I was quite surprised then, but still, I said to myself, why not.

I then contacted my emcee partner, Shikin and she agreed as well. Though few incidents happened, Shikin managed to reach UPSI the night before the event. We even had our dinner at Sarang Art Hub, a best kept secret restaurant owned by Mamat Khalid - and luckily, Mamat Khalid was around that night. That was my first time seeing Mamat Khalid in person.

On Saturday, the IPCSM event went smoothly just like last year. As usual, Puan Reen prepared the text for us, which made our job a lot easier. We also were given some token by Puan Reen. Thanks a lot for that. I also would like to thank her and those involved for giving me this second opportunity of standing on the same stage.

Next year, I am planning to present my own paper during the event if I am not selected for an emcee. | MHM

Last Class for Master

Little did I realised that I had come to the final chapter of my postgrad life. Today we had our final class for masters, which means after this I will not come to UPSI on the weekly basis. Next semester, I will just only focus on my project paper write-up, and will come once in a while for consultation with my supervisor.

Though I will be free from any classes or assignments, this somehow touched me because most probably I will miss my friends and lecturers a lot as they are part of my life for about one and a-half year. I did really enjoyed going to classes on weekends and meeting up with my friends though sometimes I did felt lethargic due to certain problems or personal issues.

Here I met lots of friends from different backgrounds. Having these postgrad friends in some way inspires me to keep my head straight on my study. Among them are full-time students like Timah, Shikin, Yuyu, Mek Na, Diyana, Zaza, Fatin etc. Still young and energetic, they are the fresh graduate who pursued their study straight after graduated. Also, part-time teachers like Edwin (the only male coursemate in Biology), Evone (my ex-junior in IPTI), Kak Hazilah, Kak Taayah, Kak Sheila, etc. I learned a lot from their experiences. Also, Indian group ladies Parmiswary, Thana, Veronica, Kaveeta and others, which I was told that they had called me Arabic boy without my knowledge.

Seriously, I will miss these faces a lot. Sad to be apart from you guys and also lecturers. To all my friends, I am wishing all the best for your life and may all of you succeed in this world and the world hereafter. Amiinn. And now, I need to give my head up on my project paper so that I will graduate by next semester, InsyaAllah.

MC for Conference

Date: 10 October 2015
Venue: Dewan Konvensyen, UPSI
Programme: 3rd International Postgraduate Conference on Science and Mathematics 2015

On 10th of October 2015, I had been given a task to be a Master of Ceremony with my coursemate Asyikin for the 3rd International Postgraduate Conference on Science and Mathematics 2015. It was my second time to handle the event with English medium. The first time was during my degree years in Maktab but not as big in scale as this event. The event was called SAGa, which stands for Science Academic Gathering 2010 hosted a forum and a debate session on the issue of nuclear energy.

The moment when I received the phone call from Shikin, asking me whether I wanted to become an MC for the event or not, I was quite astonished. For the whole week, I kept on thinking about what was going to happened next. Am I ready for this? Should I just reject the offer? I did not know

It was then, when we met the protocol committee, I was quite relieved. The committee members lead by Dr. Nurul were so helpful and cooperative. We also were glad to meet Cik Reen, our MC sifu who had prepared all the scripts and guided us through the event. It was a very pleasure moment to have been worked with all of them.
